QuickBooks is a very crucial tool for businesses in nowadays. It helps organizations in order to manage their money, payroll of their employees, and record of the bills and much more.
But QuickBooks is really a complex application. Due to this complexity, QuickBooks is prone to having problems.
There could be several reasons for error occurred in your QuickBooks file over the network. I have gathered some of the fixes which worked for me in this kind scenario.

- Solution 4 :- Check for standby or hibernation mode on the host computer. (Click Here)
- Solution 5 :- Fix damaged network data files (*.nd). (Click Here)
- Solution 6 :- Toggle hosting off and on at the host computer (Click Here)
- Solution 7 :- Stop and restart the QuickBooks database service (Click Here)
- Solution 8 :- Set the correct folder permissions on the host computer (Click Here)
- Solution 9 :- Repair the QuickBooks installation (Click Here)
- Solution 10 :- Uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks (Click Here)
- Solution 11 :- Verify and rebuild the QuickBooks company data (Click Here)
Solution 1 :- Download QuickBooks File Doctor
- Download, install and run the QuickBooks File Doctor. (Click Here).
- If you still see the error go to Solution 2.
- If you can open you file by copying it to a different folder or computer, proceed to solution 2 or 3.
Solution 2 :- Configure Windows Firewall
- Click the Start menu and type firewall.
- Click on Windows Firewall.
- On the right-hand side, click on Advanced Settings.
- Click on Inbound Rules to highlight it.
- Right-click on Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
- Select Port and click Next.
- Make sure TCP is selected and type in the following ports for your year of QuickBooks: (if you have multiple years of QuickBooks installed or will be using, you will need to add each year's ports as well in this format: 8019, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX).
- QuickBooks 2016: 8019, 56726, 55368-55372
- QuickBooks 2015: 8019, 56725, 55363-55367
- QuickBooks 2014: 8019, 56724, 55358-55362
- QuickBooks 2013: 8019, 56723, 55353-55357
- Click Next and make sure Allow the Connection is selected, then click Next again.
- Click Next again and give the rule a name, such as QBPorts. Click Finish when done.
- Repeat the steps above for the Outbound Rules (for step 4 inbound rules, choose Outbound Rules).
- Try opening QuickBooks again in multi-user mode or over your network to see if the issue has been resolved.
Server 2003:
- Click the Start menu and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click on Firewall.
- Click the Exceptions button.
- Click Add Port.
- Make sure TCP is selected and type in the following ports for your year of QuickBooks: (if you have multiple years of QuickBooks installed or will be using, you will need to add each year's ports as well in this format: 8019, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX).
- QuickBooks 2016: 8019, 56726, 55368-55372
- QuickBooks 2015: 8019, 56725, 55363-55367
- QuickBooks 2014: 8019, 56724, 55358-55362
- QuickBooks 2013: 8019, 56723, 55353-55357
- Click OK when finished.
- Try opening QuickBooks again in multi-user mode or over your network to see if the issue has been resolved.
Solution 3 :- Manage AntiVirus Programs
Configure your 3rd Party AntiVirus/Firewall Programs :
(do this only if configuring the Windows Firewall does not resolve the issue) :
Intuit does not support or maintain steps on the various internet security programs on the market today. In most cases, you should be fine just adding the ports above to the Windows Firewall. If you still encounter errors opening a file over a network or multi-user problems, you may want to try adding the following executable/directories to your 3rd party virus program.
Add the following ports to your 3rd party Antivirus/Firewall:
Make sure TCP is selected and type in the following ports for your year of QuickBooks: (if you have multiple years of QuickBooks installed or will be using, you will need to add each year's ports as well in this format: 8019, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX.

- QuickBooks 2015 :- 8019, 56725, 55363-55367
- QuickBooks 2014 :- 8019, 56724, 55358-55362

Add the following executables to your 3rd party Antivirus/Firewall:
Note :- If you see Program Files (x86), go there as that means you are on a 64bit OS.

Intuit is unable to supply information for all of the several hundred firewall programs available today, as you will need to refer to the links below on how to configure your 3rd party internet security program. If your Antivirus/Firewall is not listed here, refer to your software's documentation or the software publisher's web site for support.

Solution 4 :- Check for standby or hibernation mode on the host computer.
Solution 5 :- Fix damaged network data files (*.nd).
On the computer that is hosting the QuickBooks company file:
- On your keyboard, press Windows + E to open Windows Explorer.
- Browse to the folder that contains the Company File.
- Right-click the file that has the same name as your company file and the file extension .nd (for example "MyCompanyFile.nd") and select Rename.
- Change the file extension to .ndold (for example "MyCompanyFile.ndold") and press Enter.
- Open QuickBooks and open the company file. QuickBooks will create a new network data file for the company file.
Solution 6 :- Toggle hosting off and on at the host computer
- Open QuickBooks and open the company file.
- Choose File >Switch to Single User Mode.
- Choose File >Utilities > Stop Hosting Multi-user access.
- Choose File >Utilities > Host Multi-user access.
- Choose File >Switch to Multi-User Mode.
Note :- If you can't toggle hosting off and on, restart the computer in Safe mode with networking and try again.
Solution 7 :- Stop and restart the QuickBooks database service
First Stop the database server process, steps will depend on windows version :
Windows 8, 8.1 & 10
- On your keyboard, press Windows and type Task Manager.
- Click Task Manager.
- Right-click qbdbmgrn.exe and select End Task.
- Repeat step 3 to stop all instances of qbdbmgrn.exe if it appears on the list more than once.
- Close Task Manager.
Windows 7, and Vista :
- Right-click a blank space on the Windows taskbar and select Task Manager.
- Click the Processes Tab.
- Click the Image Name column heading to sort the entries alphabetically.
- Right-click qbdbmgrn.exe and select End Process.
- Repeat step 4 to stop all instances of qbdbmgrn.exe if it appears on the list more than once.
- Close Task Manager.
Now database server process completed, Open the Computer Management window :
- On your keyboard, press Windows + R to open the Run window.
- Enter compmgmt.msc and press Enter.
- Restart the database server process:
- In the Computer Management window, click the "+" symbol next to Services and Applications to expand the section.
- Select Services.
- In the Services window, click the Name column heading to sort the entries alphabetically.
- Right-click the appropriate service for your QuickBooks version and select Start:
- QuickBooks 2016 or Enterprise Solutions 16.0 :- QuickBooksDB26
- QuickBooks 2015 or Enterprise Solutions 15.0 :- QuickBooksDB25
- QuickBooks 2014 or Enterprise Solutions 14.0 :- QuickBooksDB24
- QuickBooks 2013 or Enterprise Solutions 13.0 :- QuickBooksDB23
- Close the Computer Management window.
Solution 8 :- Set the correct folder permissions on the host computer
To verify or set folder permissions for QuickBooks users, refer to the appropriate information for your version of Microsoft Windows:
- Set access permissions for QuickBooks in Windows
Solution 9 :- Repair the QuickBooks installation
- Close any open programs.
- Insert your QuickBooks CD in the CD drive. If the QuickBooks installation window opens, close it.
- On your keyboard, press Windows + E.
- Note: In Windows 8, click Computer at the top of the window.
- Click Uninstall or Change a program.
- In the list of currently installed programs:
- Windows 8 or 7: Right-click the QuickBooks program you want to repair and selectUninstall/Change.
- Windows Vista: Right-click the QuickBooks program you want to repair and select Repair.
- When the QuickBooks Installation Wizard opens, click Next.
- Select Repair and click Next. QuickBooks repairs the installation.
- After the repair is finished, click Finish and then Restart your computer if prompted to do so. If in case not prompted to restart, do it manually.
Solution 11 :- Verify and rebuild the QuickBooks company data
Refer to Verify and rebuild your company file to determine if the company file is damaged.
Note :- If the verify, rebuild, verify finds no integrity violations with your company file, create a new Windows Admin user called Test (see instructions at Microsoft Help & Support site) and log in as this user.
