Fix MS Outlook Not Responding, Freezes or Crashes Frequently

Solution 1 : MS Outlook Desktop Installation Files are Corrupted

To check This lets try to open MS Outlook in Safe Mode.

  • There are 2 Ways to Launch MS Outlook in safe mode :
    1. Click Start Menu and in the search box, type “Outlook.exe /Safe” (without quotation marks) and hit Enter.
    2. Open run box and type “Outlook.exe /Safe” (without quotation marks) and hit OK.

This will launch MS Outlook without any add-ins or without any extra customizations that loads by default.

If it seems like MS Outlook works properly in Safe Mode, then the problem is more likely related to any of the customization settings/files or Add-ins you have in your MS Outlook.

Solution 2 : Disable MS Outlook Add-ins Notifications

Sometime MS Outlook add-ins can cause conflicts which can lead to errors and issues, which can lead to Outlook restart or freeze and prompt warning messages. In this case we will check the add-ins of MS Outlook and try disabling them.

Here is how you can fix the issue.

  1. Launch Outlook in safe mode (See Solution 1 to open Outlook in Safe Mode).
  2. Click File on the top left side of the menu.
  3. Then select Options from the left-hand side of navigation pane.ms outlook file options
  4. In Outlook Options select Add-ins on the left side menu pane.outlook options-add-ins
  5. Then from right side bottom select COM Add-ins from Manage option.
  6. Then Click GO.outlook-com-add-ins
  7. Uncheck all add-ins check-boxes.
  8. Then Press OK and try to open Outlook normally (you may also need to restart your computer).

To identify the add-in, which is creating problem, check add-in one by one and repeat the process till you find the corrupted add-in.

 

Solution 3: Repair Microsoft Office Outlook

There could be issues with the Setup or the application itself, this can happen due to several reasons.

The best way to do this is to Repair MS Office.

  1. Go to start menu and search for option control panel.
  2. In control panel open Programs and Features.
  3. Then right click on the MS Office Pack that you want to repair, then select Change.control panel-program and features
  4. Choose any one Quick or Online Repair. (We recommend online repair, make sure the internet is connected for this option)Repair MS Office

This will resolve a wide range of known and unknown issues related to MS Office. This won’t make any changes to the data or folders you have in your MS Outlook.

Solution 4 : Repair your MS Outlook Profile

There are 3 ways to open Email Account settings.

  1. From MS Outlook
    • Launch Outlook in safe mode (See Solution 1 to open Outlook in Safe Mode).
    • Click File at the top left side of the menu.
    • Then from the drop-down menu next to the Account Settings, select Account Settings.ms outlook file options
  2. From Start Menu
    • Click Start Menu and in the search box, type “mail” (without quotation marks) and hit Enter.Start menu search box-mail

  3. From Control Panel
    • Open Control Panel and search for “mail”.control panel-mail

In Account settings box, under the email tab, highlight your account or profile. Click Repair once it is highlighted.
